STS International Teams with FLIR Systems to Install EST Screening Solution at Pentagon to Guard Against COVID-19 Spread

Arlington, VA, June 8, 2020 – STS International, Inc. recently teamed with FLIR Systems, Inc. to provide increased screening capability at the Pentagon to help identify visitors with elevated skin temperature (EST), one of the main symptoms of COVID-19 infections.

Using the FLIR A700 EST-IS integrated screening solution, Pentagon security personnel can quickly detect EST using highly accurate infrared (IR) technology while remaining socially distanced from the individual. STS installed the systems at the Pentagon Visitor Center, where individuals are checked-in and cleared to enter the facility. STS also developed and provided training to the screeners and members of the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, as well as service members from the U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force (REF), to ensure proper use of the equipment and the most accurate results.

“We’re pleased to be teamed with STS International in providing our EST solution to help protect visitors to the Pentagon,” said Tim Durham, FLIR VP and General Manager of the company’s Sensor Systems business. “Elevated skin temperature screenings can be a first line of defense in managing the spread of the novel coronavirus.”

“We are incredibly proud to be supporting this effort with FLIR and part of the COVID-19 response,” said Dave Morgan, STS President. “These are challenging times, and when you get the right partnership and the right energy, like between FLIR and STS, you can bring innovation and agility to help solve these challenges and, hopefully, make everyone safer and more secure.”

DESIGNING LOGISTICS INFORMATION SYSTEMS for Global Military Operations: An STS White Paper

* A look at four challenges in establishing global LIS solutions to sustain critical military systems

* A critical tool of successful logistics operations is the Logistics Information System (LIS)

April 24, 2020 – [Arlington, VA] – We are excited to share with you our latest STS White Paper:

The United States (US) Government employs a variety of force protection and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems around the world. These systems detect and defend against threats to US service members and allied forces. The vital function of these systems—protecting US soldiers and allies—requires the equipment to be operational at all times, accomplished through responsive and agile logistics operations. Yet, many of these systems reside in remote locations and harsh environments, including active combat zones, which adds complexity to logistics.

A critical tool of successful logistics operations is the Logistics Information System (LIS). An LIS is a database used to effectively collect, validate, and analyze supply and maintenance data throughout the asset management lifecycle. The LIS tracks parts and supplies, maintenance actions, and quality control checks to help keep mission critical systems operational. For example, users can track the time it takes to deliver a part to a specific location in theater or track how often a part needs to be replaced. Analyzing this information, Logistics Specialists can then predict when to order and ship parts so they arrive at the right time and in the right quantities, preventing long system downtime waiting for part replacements. The LIS also communicates a transparent picture of inventory and asset information to geographically dispersed personnel, including Government representatives.

STS International designs, customizes, and deploys Logistics Information Systems for global asset management. Through our experience establishing end-to-end LIS solutions to sustain military systems, STS has identified and solved some of the top challenges faced when implementing an LIS, discussed in this paper.

STS Wins Advanced Expeditionary Warfare Development’s (AEWD) Task Order for Safety and Operational Assessment of Lightweight Remote Weapon Station

Arlington, VA – STS recently won Advanced Expeditionary Warfare Development’s (AEWD) Task Order for Safety and Operational Assessment of Lightweight Remote Weapon Station. Army Contracting Command-Aberdeen Proving Ground-Research Triangle Park and the Special Missions Branch have collaborated with Army Research Laboratory to support Project Manager Solider Lethality (PM SL) by soliciting a Task Order (TO) on the Advanced Expeditionary Warfare Development (AEWD) contract vehicle. The TO is to support Product Director Crew Served Weapons’ (PD CSW’s) mission to add new capabilities to PM SL’s weapons portfolio. PM SL ensures that Soldiers on the battlefield have overmatch capabilities in individual and crew served weapons. PM SL supports soldiers through the development, production, fielding, and sustainment of current and future weapons systems, as well as associated target acquisition/fire control products. Under this TO, STS and its subcontractors IEC Infrared Systems and Precision Remotes LLC will deliver Lightweight Remote Weapon Stations to PdM CSW and provide on-site and remote site test, safety, and operational assessment product support.
