Computer Based Instructional Design and Development Subject Matter Expert

STS International, an innovative systems engineering and integration firm, is seeking a Computer Based Instructional Development Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical expertise for Computer Based Instructional products and services for a government client. This role provide technical expertise to support a program that will incorporate Instructional System Design, Trainer/Training Systems, Design, installation, and implementation of Automated Electronic Classrooms(AECs), Human Performance Analysis and Training Infrastructure.

This position will be located at our Arlington, VA office.  Relocation for this is not available.

 Primary Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Interface directly with senior level management and developmental organizations to identify mission and support Computer Based Instructional design and development.
  • Evaluates, recommends improvements, and identifies required resources and provides assistance in implementing changes.
  • Work as senior member of an instructional design team under the supervision of a Project Manager to support the design and develop instructor-led and e-learning curricula and performance support solutions
  • Plan, implement, and formally document findings from training needs assessments.
  • Adhere to and apply client-specific styles and standards in addition to industry best practice standards for the design and development of instructional products including design plans, storyboards, facilitator guides, and participant guides
  • Identify critical knowledge, skills, and behaviors and develop training scenarios.
  • Provide recommendations for estimated level of effort based on project scope
  • Critically review design documents, storyboards, instructor/participant guides, and other instructional materials produced by instructional designers for technical accuracy and instructional soundness, and provide constructive, actionable feedback
  • Complete formative and summative evaluations including the development of evaluation instruments
  • Serve in a leadership or significant contributor role (such as Technical Approach Lead and/or Pricing Lead) for proposal and business development activities
  • Supports Project Leads and Program Managers.
  • May create schedules and/or budgets.

Travel Requirements:  May require some domestic travel.

Minimum Education:  Position requires a Master's of Science (MS) in a relevant area of study.  Candidates with a Bachelor’s (B.S or B.A) Degree must show additional experience specific to area of expertise.

Minimum/General Experience:  Minimum of seven (7) years progressively complex experience specific to computer based instructional design products and services.  Four years additional experience is required if candidate does not possess a Master’s degree. 

This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and/or customer approval.
